Restaurare Film is a film restoration studio founded by film restorer and archivist Ruxandra Blaga. She currently restores and researches early American silent films, for Film Preservation Society, focusing on the restoration of films produced by the Biograph Company, home to pioneering director D. W. Griffith and such actors as Mary PickfordLillian Gish, and Lionel Barrymore. In parallel, she restores Romanian silent films for the Romanian Film Archive. Her work includes the restoration of films such as Romania's Independence War (1912) - the first Romanian feature film, Manasse (1925), Leiba Zibal (1931).

Ruxandra previously worked in the Digital Restoration department at L'Immagine Ritrovata - Cineteca di Bologna film restoration and preservation laboratory (Bologna, Italy), and is an alumna of the Dual Masters in Heritage Studies: Preservation and Presentation of the Moving Image, University of Amsterdam.

Writing the presentation texts for films premiering at Cinema Victoria, one of the oldest art house cinemas in Transilvania.

I was part of the Digital Restoration Department where I worked on the restoration of 30 films, presented at international film festivals. Some examples include Easy Rider (1969) - Cannes 2019; Apocalypse Now (1979) - Il Cinema Ritrovato 2019; College (1927) - Marché du Film Classique at the Lumière Festival in Lyon.


Peggy Guggenheim Collection / Intern, Assistant

Museum Education: Presentations, group and private tours focused on mediating and contextualizing the works of painting, sculpture, and mixed media from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, belonging to artistic movements: Surrealism, Cubism, Abstract, Expressionism, Arte Povera.
Children's Museum Education, Kids Day. Educational workshops in the museum were offered weekly to children between 4 and 10 years old, carried out bilingually (English and Italian).
Customer Relations: Ticket sales and wardrobe.
Quality Control of paintings signed by Tancredi, for the exhibition My Weapon Against the Atom Bomb, is a Blade of Grass. Tancredi. A Retrospective (November 12, 2016 - March 13, 2017).
Assistant Photographer: I assisted in the photography of the museum's collection by David Heald, photographer of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, New York.
