Restaurare Film is a film restoration studio founded by film restorer and archivist Ruxandra Blaga. She currently works with Film Preservation Society, where she restores and archives early American silent films, focusing on those produced by the Biograph Company - home to pioneering director D. W. Griffith and stars such as Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, and Lionel Barrymore.
In parallel, Ruxandra restores Romanian silent films for the Romanian Film Archive. Her work includes the restoration of landmark films such as Romania’s Independence War (1912) - the country’s first feature film - as well as Manasse (1925) and Leiba Zibal (1931).
Previously, she worked in the Digital Restoration Department at L’Immagine Ritrovata, the film restoration and preservation laboratory of Cineteca di Bologna (Bologna, Italy). Ruxandra holds a Dual Master’s degree in Heritage Studies: Preservation and Presentation of the Moving Image from the University of Amsterdam.
